Trip Overview

the ancient animistic religion of Tibet . We have scheduled this itinerary to attend the Mani Rimdu festival at Chiwang Monastery before you trek north to view Mt. Everest and appreciate the Sherpa villages and culture for which the region is renowned. From phaphlu village you trek to the nearby Chiwang Monastery and attend the 2 day festival. Many regard this as the most authentic in Nepal being presided over by the head Lama who is a reincarnate Lama of Rongphu in Tibet where the festival originated. Festival time is also party time for the Sherpa peoples and many impromptu dances and celebrations will ensure a memorable occasion, and then heading north you'll trek to Lukla and follow the established trails to the Sherpa Capital at Namche Bazaar. As you ascend past rows of Mani walls, whitewashed chortens and brightly colored prayer flags that reflect the region's deep seated Buddhist culture. After a rest day in Namche Bazaar you continue to Thyangboche Monastery situated beneath the distinctive summit of Ama Dablam. Completing the spectacular panorama you'll view the peak of Mt. Everest that peers over the dramatic Lhotse and Nuptse wall at the head of the khumbu Valley . On your return stages you visit the villages of Khunde and Khumjung before descending via Namche to Lukla and you will fly back to Kathmandu .
